Adopt-A-Missionary

A Ministry of Encouragement and Support
All believers are involved in the Great Commission, but not all go to a foreign field. You have skills and abilities that can bless and support foreign missions by supporting missionaries from your home. As a mission minded individual we can help you find a way to serve.
An email to ServantCARE stated:
"We have been stateside for almost six years now and God has been giving us the unction to go back overseas. So with much prayer and talking with our director we will be relocating to South Africa. We have a base there and we are excited how God is going to use us, and work in our lives. With all this said something that God has impressed on my heart is finding certain ministries that would be willing to be a source of encouragement to us. We were in Eastern Europe for a while and we felt as if we were in the trenches all by ourselves. The result was when we came back to the States we thought and saw the importance of encouragement. We do all we can to send small little parcels to the overseas staff to encourage them along the way in their journey, and when they came to the states we try to really make them feel welcome. I am not writing this to boast of our own efforts because if there be any praise to be given we give all to JESUS! Enough said on that, but back to what GOD has placed on my heart, I was wondering if your ministry is what I am looking for?"
Our heart at ServantCARE had been to develop an Adopt-A-Missionary program and this e-mail was the encouragement we needed to begin.
Do you have a heart for missions or a burden for a specific country? Contact us and we will connect you with a missionary there that you can encourage, support, and pray for. Or perhaps you have children you would like to teach more about missions. Being pen pals with missionary children is a great way to learn. We encourage regular communication via e-mail, cards for special occasions, and even phone calls. This is a missionary support program where monthly support is given as well as encouragement and regular prayer support. We encourage you to find what things they are missing from home (some have said peanut butter, gravy mixes, certain spices, lotions, current popular Christian worship CD’s, etc) and send them a CARE package periodically in addition to the monthly support. As the relationship is built you may find that you desire to make a trip to visit the missionaries. Perhaps even leading a short-term mission trip to help with some project they have undertaken. How they will bless God for your caring heart!!
Each of us has been blessed with one of God's many wonderful
gifts to be used in the service of others so let’s all use our
gifts well.
